Leaf-blades oblong, elliptic, or obovate, 2-9 cm. long, obtuse or slightly emarginate, glabrous, smooth and slightly shining above, dull and somewhat veiny beneath, abruptly narrowed or cuneate at the base, short-petioled ; panicle-rachis and pedicels sparingly pubescent, or glabrous at maturity ; sepals broadly ovate to deltoid, 3-5 mm. long, or larger at maturity, the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body ; drupes broadly ovoid or globose-ovoid, about 1 cm. in diameter.
Type locality : Trinidad.
Distribution : Dominica, Martinique, and Trinidad ; perhaps also in Hispaniola.

rounded, obtuse or slightly acuminate but blunt-tipped, light-green above, more or less
pubescent beneath with reddish, wholly or partially deciduous hairs, abruptly narrowed or
cuneate at the base, short-petioled ; panicle-rachis and pedicels tomentulose or nearly
glabrous at maturity ; sepals ovate, 3.5-^4 mm. long, or larger at maturity, the glands about
one half the length of the sepal-body ; petals yellow, the larger ones 8-9 mm. long ; drupes
ovoid or globose-ovoid, S-10 mm. long.
Type locality: Mt. Pelee, Martinique.
Distribution : St. Croix and Guadeloupe to Barbados and Grenada.
