Sprattus muelleri és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels clupèids.[5]
Té una temporada de fresa pel que sembla al voltant de l'illa del Sud del juliol al gener.[6]
És un peix marí, pelàgic-nerític i de clima subtropical (33°S-51°S, 165°E-180°E) que viu entre 28 i 110 m de fondària.[6][8][9]
Es troba al Pacífic sud-occidental: Nova Zelanda.[6][10][11]
És inofensiu per als humans.[6]

Sprattus muelleri is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van haringen (Clupeidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1879 door Klunzinger.
