Els lipòtids (Lipotidae) són una família de cetacis del grup dels odontocets. Tres de les quatre espècies que conformen aquest clade porten extintes des del Pliocè i la quarta, el dofí de riu xinès, està extinta o en perill crític. La UICN és partidària d'aquesta última opció.[2] El dofí de riu xinès és un dofí d'aigua dolça endèmic del riu Iang-Tsé, mentre que els exemplars prehistòrics d'aquest grup vivien a les aigües costaneres d'allò que avui en dia és Califòrnia i la Baixa Califòrnia.[3]

Lipotidae is a family of river dolphins containing the possibly extinct baiji of China and the fossil genus Parapontoporia from the Late Miocene and Pliocene of the Pacific coast of North America.[1][2] The genus Prolipotes, which is based on a mandible fragment from Neogene coastal deposits in Guangxi, China,[3] has been classified as an extinct relative of the baiji, but is dubious.[4]
The only species of the Lipotidae family that has flourished until recent times is the Lipotes vexillifer, which lives in the Yangtze River system, but its population has declined drastically since the second half of the 20th century due to the severe aggression of industrial and fishing activities in China, and is thought to have become extinct in the early 21st century.[5]
The putative kentriodontid "Lophocetus" pappus is a possible relative of Lipotidae.[6]

À l'heure actuelle (2007), le Dauphin de Chine aurait disparu totalement, à cause du trafic et de la pollution ; une expédition internationale n'a pu trouver aucun survivant de cette espèce dans son milieu, le fleuve Yangzi.
Animal Diversity Web et ITIS ne reconnaissent pas cette famille et placent son unique genre sous la famille des Iniidae pour ITIS et des Platanistidae pour Animal Diversity Web.
