Els rincodemins (Rhynchodeminae) constitueixen una subfamília de planàries terrestres.^[1]

Rhynchodeminae ist eine Unterfamilie der Landplanarien, die weltweit verbreitet ist.

Systematik

Aufgrund morphologischer Merkmal, vor allem dem Vorhandensein von einem Augenpaar, umfasste die Unterfamilie Rhynchodeminae zunächst ausschließlich Arten des heutigen Tribus Rhynchodemini und wurde als Schwestertaxon zur Unterfamilie Microplaninae geführt.^[2] Für die übrigen Triben wurden aufgrund der vielen Augen entlang des Körpers eine nahe Beziehung zur Unterfamilie Geoplaninae vermutet.

Molekulargenetische Untersuchungen zeigten, dass diese Klassifikation unpassend war und Rhynchodeminae näher mit der Unterfamilie Caenoplaninae verwanft ist.^[3] Aus diesem Grund wurde die vorige Definition für die Unterfamilie Rhynchodeminae für den neu eingeordneten Tribus Rynchodemini übernommen. Auch die vorherige Unterfamilie Caenoplaninae wurde in den Tribus Caenoplanini überführt. Des Weiteren wurden die Triben Anzoplanini, Eudoxiatoplanini und Pelmatoplanini in die Unterfamilie aufgenommen. Die Einordnung dieser Unterfamilie wird durch Ergebnisse der Phylogenetik unterstützt, es gibt jedoch auch Synapomorphien innerhalb der Gruppe.^[3]

Rhynchodeminae is a subfamily of land planarians with a worldwide distribution.

Phylogeny and systematics

Based on morphological evidence, especially the presence of a single pair of eyes, the subfamily Rhynchodeminae initially encompassed only the species in the current tribe Rhynchodemini and was considered the sister group of subfamily Microplaninae.^[2] The remaining tribes were considered closely related to the subfamily Geoplaninae due to the presence of multiple eyes along the body.

However, molecular studies revealed that this classification was artificial and that the Rhynchodeminae were closely related to Caenoplaninae.^[3] Therefore, recent classification puts the former Rhynchodeminae as a tribe, Rynchodemini, inside an expanded subfamily Rhynchodeminae that also contains the tribes Anzoplanini, Caenoplanini, Eudoxiatoplanini and Pelmatoplanini. This group is supported by molecular phylogeny, but there are no known synapomorphies.^[3]
