Onychorhynchus és un gènere d'ocells de la família dels titírids (Tityridae).
Segons la Classificació del Congrés Ornitològic Internacional (versió 2.5, 2010) aquest gènere està format per 4 espècies:

Tito tyranovci jsou nenápadní, 16–18 cm dlouzí ptáci s dlouhým a širokým zobákem. Záda jsou matně hnědá, ocas skořicový, hrdlo bělavé a hruď a břicho okrově žluté. Co činí tyto ptáky zajímavými, je vztyčitelná korunka vějířovitého tvaru. V klidu je složena, není téměř patrná a propůjčuje hlavě tyranovce poněkud kladivovitý tvar. Vzácně ji však ptáci vztyčují a chocholka se pak ukáže v celé kráse. U samců je krvavě rudé barvy, u samic pak žlutooranžová, konce per jsou u obou pohlaví ocelově modré.
Všichni tyranovci tohoto druhu obývají amazonské deštné pralesy.
Jsou to hmyzožravci, loví hlavně létající hmyz.
V současnosti se popisují čtyři druhy ptáků z rodu Onychorhynchus. Jedná se o původně popsaný druh tyranovec královský (Onychorhynchus coronatus) a jeho poddruhy, které se dnes považují za samostatné druhy[1]

The genus name Onychorhynchus comes from the Greek words ὄνυξ onyx "nail" and ρυγχος rhynkhos "bill".[3]
The International Ornithological Committee (IOC) and BirdLife International's Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW) places four species in the genus:[1][4]
The North American and South American Classification Committees of the American Ornithological Society (AOS) treat the genus as having one species, royal flycatcher (Onychorhynchus coronatus), with four subspecies. They place it in family Onychorhynchidae with four other species of two genera that the IOC and HBW include in Tityridae. The Clements taxonomy also treats the royal flycatcher as one species with four subspecies. It places that species, the same four additional species as the AOS, and the sharpbill (Oxyruncus cristatus) in family Oxyruncidae, which the AOS reserves for the sharpbill alone.[5][6][7]

El nombre genérico masculino «Onychorhynchus» se compone de las papabras del griego «ονυξ onux, ονυχος onukhos»: garra, y «ῥυγχος rhunkhos»: pico; significando «pico en forma de garra».[3]
Los mosqueros reales son aves de crestas espectaculares, muy coloridas. De tamaño mediano, miden alrededor de 16 cm de longitud y habitan en el sotobosque de selvas húmedas de baja altitud donde son sorprendentemente inconspicuos. Sus nidos pendulares son muy largos y generalmente son construidos colgando sobre un arroyo o pequeña corriente de agua.[11]
