Die Chinesische Wasserfledermaus (Myotis laniger) ist eine Art der Mausohren (Myotis) innerhalb der Fledermäuse (Chiroptera). Sie ist über Teile Zentral- und Südost-Chinas bis Indien und Vietnam verbreitet.
Die Chinesische Wasserfledermaus erreicht eine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von 40 bis 42 Millimetern und eine Schwanzlänge von 38 bis 40 Millimetern. Die Hinterfüße haben eine Länge von 8 bis 11 Millimeter, die Ohren messen 12 bis 16 Millimeter.[1] Es handelt sich entsprechend um eine relativ kleine Fledermausart. Das Rückenfell ist kurz und dunkelbraun, die Bauchhaare haben eine dunkle Basis und heller braune bis graue Haarspitzen. Das Gesicht ist ebenfalls dicht behaart. Die Füße sind etwas länger als die halbe Unterschenkellänge. Die Flughaut setzt an der Basis der Zehen an, der Calcar ist vorhanden und ungekielt.[1]
Der Schädel ist zart gebaut und die Zähne weisen einige artspezifische Merkmale auf.[1]
Die Chinesische Wasserfledermaus lebt in Ostasien, wobei sich das Verbreitungsgebiet vom Zentrum über den Südosten der Volksrepublik China bis in den Osten Indiens im Bundesstaat Meghalaya und nach Vietnam zieht.[2]
Über die Lebensweise und ökologischen Ansprüche der weit verbreiteten Fledermausart liegen nur sehr wenige Angaben vor. Sie bevorzugt bewaldete Lebensräume und rastet wahrscheinlich in Höhlen und Baumhöhlen.[2] Die meisten der bisher gesammelten Exemplare stammen dabei aus Höhlen.[1]
Die Chinesische Wasserfledermaus wird als eigenständige Art den Mausohren (Gattung Myotis) zugeordnet. Die wissenschaftliche Erstbeschreibung stammt von dem deutschen Naturforscher Wilhelm Peters aus dem Jahr 1870, der sie zusammen mit der Haarigen Wasserfledermaus (Myotis fimbriatus) anhand von mehreren Individuen aus Xiamen in der Provinz Fujian im Catalogue of the Mammals of China von Robert Swinhoe als Vespertilio laniger beschrieb.[3][4] Von einigen Wissenschaftlern wurde sie der Wasserfledermaus (Myotis daubentonii) als Unterart zugeordnet.[4][2] Innerhalb der Art werden keine Unterarten unterschieden.[2][4]
Die Art wird von der International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) aufgrund des großen Verbreitungsgebiets und der hohen Bestandszahlen als nicht gefährdet („least concern“) eingestuft. Größere Bedrohungen für den Artbestand sind nicht bekannt, allerdings liegen auch nur wenige Daten zum aktuellen Bestand und die Lebensweise und ökologischen Ansprüche der Art vor.[2]

Myotis laniger (Peters, 1871) è un pipistrello della famiglia dei Vespertilionidi diffuso nell'Ecozona orientale.[1][2]
Pipistrello di piccole dimensioni, con la lunghezza della testa e del corpo tra 40 e 42 mm, la lunghezza dell'avambraccio tra 34 e 36 mm, la lunghezza della coda tra 38 e 40 mm, la lunghezza del piede tra 8 e 11 mm, la lunghezza delle orecchie tra 12 e 16 mm e un peso fino a 4 g.[3]
La pelliccia è corta. Le parti dorsali sono marroni, con la base dei peli più scura, mentre le parti ventrali sono bruno-grigiastre. Il muso è densamente ricoperto di peli. Le orecchie sono lunghe, strette e appuntite. Il trago è lungo, stretto e appuntito. Le ali sono attaccate posteriormente ai lati del piede circa 1-2 mm dalla base delle dita. I piedi sono grandi. La lunga coda è inclusa completamente nell'ampio uropatagio. Il calcar è privo di carenatura. Il cranio ha una scatola cranica alta ed a cupola. I canini sono piccoli. Il cariotipo è 2n=48 FNa=54.
Emette ultrasuoni sotto forma di impulsi di breve durata a banda larga e frequenza modulata iniziale di 90 kHz e finale di 31-32 kHz.
Si rifugia nelle grotte e nelle cavità degli alberi.
Si nutre di insetti catturati in volo sopra specchi o corsi d'acqua.
Questa specie è diffusa nella Cina centrale e sud-orientale, sull'isola di Hainan, nello stato indiano orientale di Meghalaya, Laos nord-orientale e nel Vietnam settentrionale.
Vive nelle foreste.
La IUCN Red List, considerato il vasto areale sebbene non ci siano informazioni recenti circa la sua diffusione, lo stato della popolazione e i requisiti ecologici, classifica M.laniger come specie a rischio minimo (LC).[1]
