onardella sinuata is an annual, herbaceous dicot (family Lamiaceae) endemic to low (up to 300 m asl) elevations in western California.It grows on sand dunes amongst coastal scrub and oak communities along the coast from Ventura to Marin county, blooming May-July.Distinguishing characters are undulating leaf margins and annular habit.There are several subspecies, some of which are exceedingly rare and have very limited distributions (e.g. M. s. gerryi, M. s. sinuata, M. s. nigrescens), and like the species itself, are included in the California Native Plant Society Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants (list 4.2).
