The day started out in discouraging fashion, as we were eluded by a coachwhip at our first stop. We decided to try a location 30 miles southwest in the adjacent county. As we attempted to lift a large rock there, my friend noticed this big (6 foot +) snake slowly attempting to crawl away in a nearby cedar thicket. After a brief chase we cornered it under a shallow ledge and were able to extract it for photos. Upon release it shot away with incredible speed and disappeared under a nearby ledge.
