Shell subspherical or ellipsoidal, compressed, constriction between body and swollen neck which tapers from its junction with the body towards the aperture, neck. Aperture oval, slightly arched Feeds on a wide range of foods including algae, Habitat: mosses, organic soils, A. vas is one of the most common nebelids in the southern hemisphere but so far not found in Europe or North America. This genus was proposed by Jung (1942b) without type designation. This was corrected by Loeblich & Tappan (1961). Type species Apodera vas Certes, 1889.
