Mestra amymone is resident in North America only in southern Texas, and migrates northward as far as Minnesota. It ranges south to Central America (Scott 1986). Habitats are subtropical open fields and woods edges. Host plants are restricted to a few species within family Euphorbiaceae. There are multiple flights all year in Texas (Scott 1986).
