(= pallidior Spuler) (10 d); a dwarfed form of the female which is very deeply coloured in contrast to the ordinary form of the female of this subspecies may be called -ab. mardina (Stgr. i. Sa période de vol s'étend de fin mars à début mai, une seule génération.
Les plantes hôtes sont des aristoloches.

La morfologia dell'adulto è molto simile a quella della specie affine Archon apollinus, tanto che le due specie sono state distinte solo di recente grazie a studi sui genitali maschili e femminili e all'analisi delle fasi di sviluppo (De Freina, 1985; Carbonell, 1991; Hesselbarth e al., 1995). L'apertura alare è di 2-2,5 cm.

Le larve parassitano foglie di piante della famiglia Aristolochiaceae, così come descritto per le altre specie del genere Archon (Ackery, 1975; Koçak, 1982; Hesselbarth e al., 1995), ed in particolare:
La specie è diffusa nella Turchia nordorientale, nell'Iraq settentrionale ed in Iran occidentale (Carbonell, 1991; Hesselbarth e al., 1995; Nazari, 2003).
Al momento non vengono riconosciute sottospecie; il taxon bostanchii (De Freina e Naderi, 2003), inizialmente descritto come sottospecie di A. apollinaris, è stato successivamente elevato al rango di specie (Archon bostanchii) in base a decisive differenze di tipo morfologico e molecolare (Carbonell e Michel, 2007; Nazari e Sperling, 2007).

Archon apollinaris — вид дневных бабочек из семейства парусников.
Длина переднего крыла 20—25 мм. Основной фон крыльев бледно-жёлтый. На крыльях располагаются чёрные, красные и синие пятна. Переднее крыло треугольное, широкое. Наружный край крыльев округлый. Нижние крылья закруглены. Глаза гладкие, крупные, снабжённые маленькими бугорками, на которых сидят короткие щетинки. Усики булавовидные, относительно короткие (составляют 1/3 — 1/4 длины костального края переднего крыла). Половой диморфизм выражен слабо, самки крупнее самцов[1].
Вид широко распространен в северо-восточной Турции, северном и восточном Ираке и западном Иране[2][3][4].
Бабочки ведут исключительно дневной образ жизни и активны только в солнечную погоду. Нуждаясь в дополнительном питании, они охотно посещают цветущие растения. Вид обитает в редколесьях, рощах, на скалистых склонах, опушках лесов. Развивается в одном поколении за год. Время лёта с марте—апреле. Самки откладывают яйца группами на листья кормовых растений. Гусеницы кормятся на растениях рода Aristolochia: Aristolochia bottae, Aristolochia maurorum, Aristolochia oivieri, Aristolochia paecilanthea[5].
