Black francolin have six morphological subspecies. Out of this six subspecies one of them francolinus francolinus asiae found in India and distributed from North East Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat to West Bengal in North India. It generally appears in cultivated area, tall grasses, scrub especially near river and water canal.
