Maximum longevity: 3.6 years (captivity)
Observations: It has been estimated that they live up to 4 years in the wild (Bernhard Grzimek 1990), which is dubious. Record longevity in captivity belongs to one wild born specimen that was about 3.6 years of age when it died (Richard Weigl 2005).
