Hypostomus carinatus^[1] is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. It is native to South America, where it occurs in the middle Amazon River basin. The species reaches 24.8 cm (9.8 inches) SL and is believed to be a facultative air-breather.^[2]

H. carinatus appears in the aquarium trade, where it is usually referred to either as the blackspotted orange pleco or by its associated L-number, which is L-166.^[3]

Hypostomus carinatus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de harnasmeervallen (Loricariidae).^[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1881 door Steindachner.

龍首下口鯰，為輻鰭魚綱鯰形目甲鯰科的其中一種，為熱帶淡水魚，分布於南美洲亞馬遜河中游流域，體長可達24.8公分，棲息在底層水域，生活習性不明。
