Allium maowenense J. M. Xu

Bulb solitary or clustered, ovoid to narrowly so, 1--2 cm in diam.; tunic pale brown, thinly leathery, apex subfibrous. Leaves shorter than scape, 2--5 mm wide, semiterete, fistulose, adaxially channeled, smooth. Scape 16--30(--60) cm, terete, covered with leaf sheaths only at base. Spathe 1-valved, deciduous. Umbel globose, densely many flowered. Pedicels equal, ca. 2 × as long as perianth, ebracteolate. Perianth white; segments with greenish or pale red midvein; outer ones narrowly ovate, boat-shaped, 3--5 × 1.5--2 mm; inner ones ovate, 4--5.5 × 2--3 mm. Filaments subulate, equal, ca. 2 × as long as perianth segments, connate at base and adnate to perianth segments. Ovary green, subglobose, with concave nectaries covered by short, hoodlike projections at base. Style exserted; stigma punctiform. Fl. and fr. Sep--Nov. 2 n = 16*.

Allium maowenense is a plant species endemic to the Sichuan region of China. It grows there at elevations of 1100–1500 m.

Allium maowenense has egg-shaped bulbs up to 2 cm in diameter. Scape is up to 60 cm tall. Leaves are hollow, tubular, shorter than the scape. Umbels are spherical, packed with many flowers; tepals white with pink or green midveins.

Allium maowenense adalah spesies tumbuhan yang tergolong ke dalam famili Amaryllidaceae. Spesies ini juga merupakan bagian dari ordo Asparagales. Spesies Allium maowenense sendiri merupakan bagian dari genus bawang Allium. Nama ilmiah dari spesies ini pertama kali diterbitkan oleh J.M.Xu.

Allium maowenense là một loài thực vật có hoa trong họ Amaryllidaceae. Loài này được J.M.Xu mô tả khoa học đầu tiên năm 1994.
