Brief Summary ( Inglês )

fornecido por Ecomare
There is no common English name for this seaweed, although some people call it kayamo-nori, which is the Japanese term. Scytosiphon lomentaria forms long hollow fronds, which often look like strings of sausages. The sausages can be round as well as flat. This seaweed grows in pools attached to stones or shells and is commonly found in the Wadden Sea as well as in the delta region. It is often found where fresh water seeps over rocks but whether or not there is a relationship is unknown. In the Netherlands, you see it growing mostly in the spring and washed ashore in the summer. Scytosiphon lomentaria is light olive to dark brown in color.
