Perithecia gregarious, 250-300," in diameter, brown, becoming black with extreme age, with a prominent ostiolum, entire or occasionally collapsing ; asci cylindric, 75 XS/^; spores mostly 1-seriate or partially 2-seriate above, ellipsoid, straight or slightly curved, becoming brown , 1-septate, scarcely constricted at the septum , with an oil-drop in each cell, 10-12 X 4--5 II ; paraphyses present, delicate.
On rotten wood.
Type locality : Ohio.
Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
