Annual ; stems copiously branched at the base, erect or ascending, 1-3 dm. high, glabrous; leaves 3-10 cm. long, sparingly long-villous, once to twice pinnately dissected, with oblong or lanceolate divisions ; peduncles 2-10 cm. long ; sepals ovate, acuminate, 6
8 mm. long, villous with long white hairs; petals white, broadly obovate-cuneate, truncate or slightly emarginate, with a very broad notch, 10-15 mm. long; carpels obovoid, 4 mm. long, with low, ridged tubercles.
Type locality : Wet places in the Sacramento Valley, California.
Distribution : Northern and central California.
