A large tree, upto 20 m or more tall in its native home. Leaves with 234 (-8) cm long petiole; lamina thick, ovate-elliptic to oblong, 15-25 cm long, 7. 5.12 cm broad, rounded or ± cuneate at the base, margins entire, apex obtuse-acute, glabrous and glossy above, silvery to rusty dotted beneath; distinct lateral nerves 10-20 pairs, parallel, intercostals present; stipules showy, 5-10 cm long, acute. Hypanthodia in an axillary group of 34, on short, thick peduncles globular or ± pyriform, 1.5-2 cm in diameter, subtended by 3 basal bracts. Male flowers: ostiolar and mixed with female; sepals 3; stamen solitary. Female flowers: sepals 4-5; ovary ovoid, style lateral, stigma elongate-acute. Figs pyriform-globular, c. 2.5 cm in diam., dark reddish-brown to purple, with pale spots,
