Descrição:

Description: English: A large (several mm long) rake mite or rake-legged mite in the family Caeculidae, in the Little Karoo town of Uniondale, Western Cape, South Africa. The biology of the family Caeculidae (named after the Roman mythological character Caeculus) seems little known. They are presumably predatory, judging from their spiky legs. This specimen had been walking in the open; possibly hunting, or having been disturbed. Date: 16 October 2010, 12:07. Source: Own work. Author: JonRichfield. Google Earth coordinates=-33.777 23.087.
