An aerobic heterotrophic bacterium that forms chains of aerial spores. Within the family, this genus is unique in having phosphatidylcholine but not phosphatidylethanolamine and normally its capacity to tolerate and sometimes require high salt conditions. Species of this genus have been isolated from high salt content environments but also from soils. Type species: Actinopolyspora halophila Gochnauer et al. 1975.
