For original description see Lundholm et al. (2002). P. linea occurs as single cells and in short step-chains. The frustules are weakly silicified and are completely linear in valve and girdle view. The apical axis is 13.4-26.6 μm. The transapical axis is 1.8-2.2 μm. Valve margins are straight with broadly rounded ends. The raphe is extremely eccentric. There is not central nodule. The fibulae are 18-22 in 10 μm and the interstriae are 38-42 in 10 μm. The striae contain 2 rows of poroids (occasionally 3 rows), which number 8-10 in 1 μm.
