Platycleis albopunctata (Goeze 1778)

The gray bush-cricket is only found in the dunes. As its name indicates it is a gray animal, sometimes having a green upper side. The species is a good flyer, as opposed to other bush-crickets. The animals often sit under bushes or plants, usually well camouflaged. Their ovipositor (for laying eggs) is 8 to 11 millimeters long. Their song is a continual series of short zooming sounds, sounding like a watch being wound up. Gray bush-crickets are active particularly in the afternoon and evening.

De duinsabelsprinkhaan komt uitsluitend in de duinen voor. Het is een grijs dier met soms een groene bovenzijde. De soort is in tegenstelling tot andere sabelsprinkhanen een goede vlieger. De dieren zitten meestal goed gecamoufleerd onder struiken of kruiden. De legboor is 8 tot 11 millimeter lang. De zang is een aangehouden serie van korte zoemende geluiden, wat als het opwinden van een horloge klinkt. De soort is vooral in de middag en de avond actief.
