Lotus wildii J. B. Gillett

wildii: for Professor Hiram Wild (1917-1982), former Head of the National Herbarium (SRGH), taxonomist and avid collector.

Perennial subshrub up to c. 60 cm tall, growing from a woody rootstock. Stems erect or sometimes procumbent stems with more or less appressed whitish to yellowish hairs when young. Leaves 5-foliolate; leaflets oblong-elliptic to obovate, up to 15 mm long; basal leaflets shorter than apical and lateral leaflets, pubescent on both surfaces. Flowers in 3-7-flowered umbels; peduncle 10-65 mm long, usually with a 3-foliolate leaf. Corolla white or cream, rarely pale mauve; standard with purple-red veining. Pods up to 28 mm long, reddish-brown to greyish-brown.
