Undershrub, up to 60 cm tall, branches numerous, pubescent, hairs appressed as well as glandular. Leaf imparipinnately compound, 0.9-2.6 cm long, petiole c. 4.5-10 mm long. Leaflets 7-11, lateral leaflets subsessile, c. 3.5-4.5 mm long, broadly obovate, obtuse, densely appressed pubescent on both sides. Inflorescence a pedunculate raceme. Pedicel very short. Calyx 2-2.5 mm long, pubescent, teeth c. 1-1.2 mm long. Vexillum c. 5-6 mm long. Fruit c. 9-13 mm long, pubescent, hairs appressed as well as glandular, slightly torulose, generally 4-6 rarely 8-seeded.

Indigofera argentea L. Mant. 273. 1771
A shrub, 1-2 m. high or more; stems silvery-strigose; leaves 3-5 cm. long; stipules subulate, 1-2 mm. long; leaflets 5-7, obovate, 1-2.5 em. long, silverywhite; racemes subsessile, 12-20-flowered, 1-3 cm. long in flower, shorter than the leaves; calyx-tube 1 mm. long, silvery; lobes deltoid, cuspidate, as long as the tube; corolla 4 mm. long, reddish-yellow; pod 1-15 cm. long, 4 mm. wide, 3-4-seeded, distinctly torulose.
Tvpe locality: India.
Distribution: Santo Domingo (according to Urban), adventive; native from Abyssinia and Kgypt to India.
