Larva dirty whiteish, without lines; head and plates brown. The larvae feed on various grasses and grains.[2]

Begge vingepar har uvanlig lange frynser langs ytterkanten, forvingens ytterkant er litt bølgete. Bakvingen er skinnende hvit.
Arten lever i åpne områder der larvene utvikler seg i røttene på ulike gras (Poaceae). De voksne sommerfuglene flyr i august – september og kommer gjerne til lys.
