Plants 1-3 dm. tall, the bulb-scales several-ribbed ; leaves as tall as the scapes or nearly so, the petioles often pubescent with scattered hairs ; leaflets 3, the blades crescentic, with linearlanceolate or linear lobes, 2-6.5 cm. wide, glabrous at least in age, deep-green above, paler beneath ; scapes glabrous or nearly so ; cymes simple, 5-9-flowered ; pedicels 1-2 cm. long, puberulent, or glabrous in age ; sepals narrowly oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 4-5 mm. long, each bearing 2 short apical tubercles; petals violet, 9-13 mm. long; shorter filaments glabrous; longer filaments pubescent, unappendaged; capsules columnar, 12-15 mm. long.
Type locality': Mexico.
Distribution : Middle and southern Mexico.

Plants 1-2 dm. tall, the bulb-scales several-ribbed ; leaves mostly shorter than the scape, the petioles finely pubescent ; leaflets 3, the blades broadly obdeltoid, 2.5-4.5 cm. wide, emarginate at the apex, with the lobes directed outward, bright-green above, rather pale beneath, with scattered hairs on both sides and ciliate at least when young ; scape finely pubescent or nearly glabrous; cyme 6-13-flowered ; pedicels 12-22 mm. long, glabrous or nearly so ; sepals oblong, sometimes broadly so, 3.5-4 mm. long, obtuse, glabrous, each bearing two apical tubercles which are 2-lobed at the base; petals violet, 7-8 mm. long; shorter filaments glabrous ; longer filaments pubescent, each appendaged on the back.
Type locality : Near Campeche, Mexico. Distribution : Southern Mexico and Yucatan.

Plants 0.5-1.5 dm. tall, erect, the bulb-scales several-ribbed; leaves as tall as the scape or nearly so, the petioles finely pubescent ; leaflets 3, the blades lunate, 10-23 mm. wdde, dark-green and glabrous above, pale and sparingly pubescent beneath, the lobes ovate to lanceolate ; scapes very sparingly pubescent ; cymes 5-14-flowered ; pedicels 0.5-1.5 cm. long, glabrous or nearly so ; sepals lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 2.5-3.5 mm. long, glabrous, each bearing 2 rather long apical tubercles ; petals wdiite, 6-9 mm. long ; shorter filaments glabrous ; longer filaments pubescent, each with an appendage on the back near the base.
Type collected on Mount Alban, near the city of Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico, June 16-21, 1S99, J. N. Rose & Walter Hough 45S9.
Distribution* : Oaxaca.

Plants 1-3 dm. tall, the bulb-scales several-ribbed; leaves fully one half as tall as the scape or equaling it, the petioles sparingly pubescent; leaflets 3, the blades broadly obdeltoid in outline, 2-6 cm. wide, bright-green and glabrous above, paler and commonly with scattered hairs beneath, the lobes ovate ; scapes pubescent like the petioles ; cymes 4-13flowered ; pedicels 1-2 cm. long, glabrous; sepals ovate to broadly oblong, 4-5 mm. long, glabrous, each bearing 2 thick apical tubercles; petals violet, 11-14 mm. long; shorter filaments slightly pubescent ; longer filaments copiously pubescent, unappendaged.
Type locality : Cuba.
Distribution: Bahamas; Cuba; Danish West Indies; Guadeloupe; Martinique.

Plants 1-1.5 dm. tall, the bulb-scales several-ribbed ; leaves about as tall as the scape, the petioles glabrous ; leaflets 3, the blades4-6 cm. wide, glabrous, except for a few hairs at the base, green, the lobes linear to narrowly linear-lanceolate, attenuate; scapes glabrous; cymes 6-8-flowered ; pedicels 1-2 cm. long, glabrous ; sepals oblong, usually broadly so, to oblong-ovate, 2.5-3 mm. long, glabrous, each bearing two thick apical tubercles; petals violet, 6-8 mm. long ; shorter filaments glabrous ; longer filaments pubescent, each with an appendage on the back below the middle.
Type locality: Colima, Colima, Mexico. Distribution : Known only from the type locality.

Plants 1-3 dm. tall, the bulb-scales 3-ribbed ; leaves usually as tall as the scapes or nearly so, the petioles villous ; leaflets 3, the blades suborbicular, varying to orbicularovate or orbicular-obovate, 2.5-6 cm. thick, deep-green and usually with scattered hairs above, paler-green and more or less pubescent beneath, the lobes rounded ; scapes villous ; cymes compound, usually many-flowered; pedicels 1-3 cm. long, appressed-pubescent ; sepals oblong to linear, 4.5-6 mm. long, glabrous or nearly so, each bearing 2 thick apical tubercles; petals violet or rose-purple, 12-15 mm. long; shorter filaments mostly glabrous ; longer filaments pubescent, unappeudaged.
Type locality : Near Rio Janeiro, Brazil.
Distribution : Florida, Mexico, northern South America and the West Indies. Also introduced into the Old World.
