The fruits are ellipsoid to roundish, up to 3.8 cm (1 in) long. The tree is named after Malacca in Peninsular Malaysia. P. malaccensis is found in southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, and New Guinea.[1] Habitat is forests from sea-level to 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) elevation. The timber is used locally in furniture-making.[2]
