Shrubby perennial herb. Leaves opposite lanceolate; margin entire. Flowers axillary, showy, mauve purple with a darker throat; corolla lobes broad and overlapping. Enlarged calyx lobes distinctly swollen, broadly ovate with prominent veins; margin entire without spines.
