Leptochilus is a large, mostly Holarctic genus of small sized potter wasps. The genus reaches its largest diversity in the Palearctic where there are more than 135 species belonging to 5 subgenera.[2] However the division of The division of Leptochilus into subgenera can not be fully supported and the status of some of them is dubious.[3]

Leptochilus (лат.) — род одиночных ос (Eumeninae). 350 видов.
Охотятся на личинок жуков и бабочек. Гнездятся в стеблях растений, земле, расщелинах скал, в пустых раковинах улиток.[1] Как правило черного цвета осы с белыми или жёлтыми перевязями.[2]
В мировой фауне известно около 350 видов. Главным образом Голарктика, и 4 вида в Неотропике.[3] В Германии 2 вида:[4]
В Неарктике около 55 видов, в Канаде 1 вид, в США более 30, в том числе:[5]
Типовой вид рода Pterochilus mauritanicus Lepeletier, 1841 был установлен позднее выделения рода (Ashmead, 1902, Can. Ent. 34: 209). Выделяют несколько подродов:[6]
