體長圓而側扁。頭大。吻長。眼大。前鰓蓋後緣呈弱鋸齒狀；尾呈叉狀。D.
VI-I，9；A. II，9；P.13-14；Ll. 225；GR.
5+1+17。體呈白色而略透明，腹部銀白色。頭部從吻端至眼前緣具一黑褐色帶，尾柄上具一小眼斑；第一背鰭未延長。

Descripció
- Pot arribar a fer 5 cm de llargària màxima.
- 7 espines i 9 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 2 espines i 9 radis tous a l'anal.[5][6]
Hàbitat
És un peix marí, associat als esculls[7] i de clima tropical (19°N-9°S) que viu entre 2 i 4 m de fondària a les llacunes i badies protegides.[5][8][9]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba al Pacífic occidental: les illes Filipines,[10][11] les Moluques,[12] Palau, Yap, les illes Ryukyu[13] i Nova Caledònia.[14][5][15][16][17][18][19]
Observacions
És inofensiu per als humans.[5]

Zoramia gilberti is a Cardinalfish from the Western Central Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 4.2 cm in length. It is found in sheltered bays and lagoons, where it gathers in large aggregations among branching corals, frequently mixed with other cardinalfish species. The specific name honours the American ichthyologist and fisheries biologist Charles H. Gilbert (1859-1928) of Stanford University who was a colleague of Jordan's.

Vissen Zoramia gilberti is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van kardinaalbaarzen (Apogonidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1905 door Jordan & Seale.
