Es troba a Àsia: des del territori de Primórie fins a la península de Corea. També és present a Hokkaido (el Japó) i la Xina.[5][8][9][10]
És inofensiu per als humans.[5]

Cottus hangiongensis is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van donderpadden (Cottidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1930 door Mori.
