A benthic species found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154). Rare species (Ref. 34024). Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family featuring oviparity, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).

體圓而延長，尾部則是側扁。在鰓蓋骨的後面有一尖銳的硬棘，其前鰓蓋骨的下方則有2根小棘。背鰭和臀鰭非常的長，一直延伸至尾鰭部位，相癒合在一起，背鰭
鰭條數99-106，臀鰭鰭條數83-92；腹鰭位於喉部，已經退化成2條延長絲狀；尾鰭鰭條數8。
體呈黃褐色。自背鰭中央處有2枚的黑斑散布。臀鰭則和背鰭相似。

Vissen Neobythites bimaculatus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van naaldvissen (Ophidiidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1997 door Nielsen.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2009.[1]
