Monomitopus agassizii is a fish species from the genus Monomitopus. It can be found in the Western Central Atlantic from the Caribbean sea all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. It has small scales, the upper jaw is enlarged, and with the exception of the gill membrane and lips, its head is mostly covered with scales.[3]

Monomitopus agassizii is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van naaldvissen (Ophidiidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1896 door Goode & Bean.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2009.[1]
