Bathypterois guentheri Alcock 1889

Head bluish black below and laterally, light above; gill covers and thoracic region dark (Ref. 5320). Body whitish with 2 dark bands (Ref. 5320). Fins black except for caudal which is black basally, white distally (Ref. 5320).

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13; Analspines: 0; Analsoft rays: 11

Found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154).

Synchronously hermaphroditic.
