Color pale yellowish; dark brown spots clustering to form larger ones in about 4 irregular rows along the body. Margin of fins white in juveniles; reduced to tip of tail in adults. Vertebrae 127-135.Description: Characterized by body depth at gill opening 10-18 in TL; origin of dorsal fin anterior to gill opening; anus at about middle of body; canine teeth in single row in jaws are moderately large; usually with one median row of three intermaxillary canines; single row of 3-9 small teeth in vomer (Ref. 90102).

體延長而呈圓柱狀，尾部側扁。頜齒單列。脊椎骨數128-131。體灰褐至灰綠色，帶有黃白色網狀細紋。小型魚該網紋清晰，但隨體長增加，網紋會變得較模糊而不明顯，而灰褐的底色會變成一塊塊多邊形的深色斑。

Gymnothorax pseudothyrsoideus is a moray eel found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.[1] It was first named by Pieter Bleeker in 1852,[1] and is commonly known as the highfin moray, false spotted moray, mottled moray-eel, or the yellow-lined reef-eel.[2]
Description
Gymnothorax pseudothyrsoideus can grow to 80 cm in length and has no visible dorsal fins. Its coloration is pale yellow with dark brown spots that are irregularly distributed across its body. The young have white along the margins of their fins, but as they mature the white fades to only the tip of the tail.[1]
Endangerment Status
Though the species has not been specifically evaluated to determine the amount of threat of extinction, it is known that the species is neither commonly seen nor very widespread in its habitat distribution. However, since the species is not commercially desirable for any purpose nor harmful to humans in any way, it is unlikely that direct human interference will affect the population.[1]

Внешний вид и строение
Рыло вытянутое. Челюсти с клыковидными зубами, немного изогнуты или прямые, могут полностью смыкаться, зубы при закрытом рте не видны[2]. Достигают длины 80 см. Число позвонков 127—135.
Распространение и места обитания
Встречается в Индо-Тихоокеанской области: от Омана и Индии на восток до Филиппин; на север до Японии, на юг до Австралии.
Обитает на коралловых рифах. Диапазон глубин от 0 до 20 м.
Питание
Питается главным образом ракообразными и рыбами[3].
Взаимодействие с человеком
Не является промысловым видом и не представляет угрозы для людей.
