Apolemiidae Huxley 1859

These three specimens belong to two new species of Apolemia (Hydrozoa:Siphonophora) to be described in a forthcoming publication. The video was filmed from the ROV Doc Rickets (Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute).

Apolemia contorta....

Apolemia contorta, reproductive pair.

This long stem region trails from a gas-filled float. It consists of both feeding and reproductive structures. Sone of the longest siphonophores are in this order.
