Morphology ( Anglèis )

fornì da iArczoo

Female:
Body slender, cephalothorax has an elongate oval shape. From dorsal view the anterior end of the cephalosome smoothly rounded. The last thoracic segment is very small in comparison to previous ones, its posterior corners do not protrude and are smoothly rounded. Abdomen more than 2 times shorter than the cephalothorax. The genital segment is as long as the next 2 segments combined and widens in the proximal part. Caudal rami straight, somewhat longer than the anal segment. Each ramus carries 4 long plumose apical setae and 2 short spinules – a larger outer and a smaller inner one.
A1 23-segmented, reach the anal segment of the abdomen. The 7th and 8th segments are fused.
The exopodite of A2 is 7-segmented and significantly longer than the endopodite.
The endopodite of P2 is one-segmented, of P3 – two-segmented, of P4 – three-segmented but with incomplete separation beyween the last 2 segmentes.
P5 uniramous, two-segmented. The distal segment is narrow and long, sickle-shaped; its apical part is sharpened and armed with a row of very small spinules on the outer edge.

Male:
Body short, stout, cephalothorax has an oval shape. The posterior corners of the last thoracic segment do not protrude and are smoothly rounded. Abdomen very short, 3.5 times shorter than the cephalothorax. P5 uniramous, asymmetrical. The right leg is three-segmented with a sharp sickle-shaped distal segment, which carries a clear thin plate in its proximal part. The left leg is 5-segmented, with a short distal segment, which carries on its end a group of short, thin setae and 1 long seta.
