Callianassa is a genus of mud shrimps, in the family Callianassidae. Three of the species in this genus (C. candida, C. tyrrhena and C. whitei) have been split off into a new genus, Pestarella, while others such as Callianassa filholi have been moved to Biffarius.

Callianassa es un género de crustáceos decápodos del suborden Pleocyemata, que agrupa también a grupos como Astacidea, Thalassinidea, Palinura, entre otros. Son principalmente marinos pero también se pueden encontrar en ríos, lagos y aguas subterráneas. Sin embargo, la mayoría viven en el fondo o relacionados al mismo.​ Se los ha descripto en las Formaciones Jagüel y Roca, en el Norte de la Patagonia Argentina.

Callianassa est un genre de crevettes de la famille des Callianassidae. Il doit son nom à la Néréide du même nom.

Trois espèces appartenant à l'origine à ce genre (C. candida, C. tyrrhena et C. whitei) ont été placées en 2003 dans un nouveau genre, Pestarella, tandis que d'autres comme Callianassa filholi ont été placées en 2010 dans le genre Biffarius.

Aujourd'hui 46 espèces sont habituellement reconnues au sein du genre Callianassa selon WoRMS.

Callianassa is een geslacht van tienpotigen uit de familie van de Callianassidae.
