Austrorossia enigmatica is a species of bobtail squid native to the southeastern Atlantic Ocean; it occurs off the coast of southern Africa from Namibia to Cape Province. It lives at depths from 276 to 400 m.[3][4]

The type specimens measure up to 27 mm in mantle length.[3]

The type locality of this species is off the South African coast. The type specimens are deposited at The Natural History Museum in London.[5]

The validity of A. enigmatica has been questioned.[5]

Austrorossia enigmatica is een dwerginktvis die voorkomt in het zuidoosten van de Atlantische Oceaan. De soort is waargenomen aan de Zuid-Afrikaanse kusten van Namibië tot Kaapprovincie. De soort leeft op diepten van 276 tot 400 m en bereikt een mantellengte van 27 mm. .[1][2]

De locatietype van deze soort is de Zuid-Afrikaanse kust. De soorttypen zijn in bezit van The Natural History Museum in Londen.[3]

De geldigheid van A. enigmatica wordt echter in betwijfeld.[3]
