A nice orange Southern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix) in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, April 2016. The above nomenclature is based on the taxonomy currently recognized by SSAR (01/2017). Others (Powell, Conant, and Collings, 2016) now consider this the Eastern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix).
