Distinguished by having the following characteristics: dorsal-fin rays VI-I, 9; anal-fin rays II, 8; pectoral-fin rays 14; pelvic-fin rays I, 5; pored lateral-line scales 24; predorsal scales 7; circumpeduncular scales 12; total gill rakers 21-22, developed gill rakers 19-20; light brown body; two black stripes, one from snout to opercular margin through eye, and the second one on anterior portion of lateral line; blackish anterior part of first dorsal fin; base of caudal-fin with distinct black spot (Ref. 93839).

4+4。體白色而略透明，具由吻部延伸至鰓蓋後緣之寬眼線，後接延伸至尾部之細黑色縱線，而在前部側線上另具一狹細而不顯之弧形黑線；尾柄上另具一小黑點；第一背鰭第I-III硬棘黑色。

Morfología
Los machos pueden alcanzar los 7 cm de longitud total.[2]
Distribución geográfica
Se encuentran desde las costas del archipiélago de Zanzíbar (Tanzania) hasta el sudeste de Asia, Japón, Taiwán, Filipinas, Nueva Guinea, Islas Salomón y Nueva Caledonia.[2]

Vissen Fibramia lateralis is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de kardinaalbaarzen (Apogonidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1832 door Valenciennes als Apogon lateralis.
