Can be diagnosed from all other species of Glyptothorax by the following combination of characters: mottled skin, more prominent over the dorsal and caudal region extending to the tip of the caudal fin; a well-developed obtuse leaf-shaped thoracic adhesive apparatus with no central depression; one bean-shaped cream-colored spot on either side of the dorsal-fin origin; ventral surface of the first unbranched rays of the paired fins plaited marginally and distally (Ref. 93019).Description: Anal-fin rays I,9,i; Pectoral-fin rays I,10,I or I,9,I (Ref. 93019).
