Ixalotriton is a genus of salamanders in the family Plethodontidae. It contains the following species:

• Ixalotriton niger
• Ixalotriton parva

Répartition

Les deux espèces de ce genre sont endémiques du Mexique^[1]. Elles se rencontrent dans les États du Chiapas et d'Oaxaca.

Étymologie

Le nom de ce genre est formé à partir des termes grecs ixalos qui signifie « jaillissant ou bondissant » et triton terme générique pour tritons et salamandres, faisant référence au comportement de ces espèces^[3].

Ixalotriton is een geslacht van salamanders uit de familie longloze salamanders (Plethodontidae). De groep werd voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door David Burton Wake en Jerry Douglas Johnson in 1989.^[1]

Er zijn twee soorten die voorkomen in delen van zuidelijk Noord-Amerika en endemisch leven in Mexico.^[2]

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Cerro Baul w stanie Oaxaca i niedaleko Berriozábal w północno-zachodniej części stanu Chiapas w Meksyku^[3].
