This species is listed as vulnerable under the Tasmanian Threatened Species Protection Act (at Dec 2013). The white corolla is only present on the younger and lower two flowers. The upper flowers have shed their seed.

Berries 3-5 cm across, pericarp thick, hard,orrange when ripe,pulp white, seeds 2 ashy-grey, compressed.Stem bark is used as fish poison, seeds are used in ulcers, dysentry and fevers.
