Microglanis ist eine Gattung von Süßwasserfischen aus der Familie der Großmaul-Antennenwelse (Pseudopimelodidae). Sie kommt in Südamerika östlich der Anden vom nördlichen Venezuela bis zum Stromgebiet des Río de la Plata vor.
Microglanis-Arten haben einen relativ kurzen, am Schwanzstiel abgeflachten, schuppenlosen Körper, einen ebenso breiten wie langen Kopf und kleine Augen. Das Maul ist genau so breit wie der Kopf. Die Barteln sind kurz und erreichen nur gelegentlich den Ansatz der Brustflossen. Von anderen Großmaul-Antennenwelsen unterscheiden sich die Microglanis-Arten vor allem durch ihre geringe Größe (maximal 8 cm) und die reduzierte Seitenlinie, von der im hinteren Körperdrittel nur noch rudimentäre Kanäle und kaum sichtbare Poren vorhanden sind. Sie sind im Allgemeinen orange-braun gefärbt und mit großen dunkelbraunen Flecken gemustert. Im deutschen werden die Fische wegen dieser Färbung auch als Harlekinwelse oder Hummelwelse bezeichnet.
Fishbase listet über 20 Arten auf. Die Gattung Microglanis stellt damit mehr als die Hälfte aller Arten der Großmaul-Antennenwelse.

Microglanis habita en aguas cálidas y templado-cálidas de América del Sur. Tiene la distribución más amplia dentro de la familia Pseudopimelodidae, habitando desde la vertiente occidental de los Andes en Ecuador y Perú, hasta Venezuela y los drenajes atlánticos de las Guayanas por el norte, y por el noreste alcanza los cursos fluviales costeros del este de Brasil comprendidos entre el río São Francisco y el río Paraíba do Sul. Además, está presente en las grandes cuencas del subcontinente: la del Amazonas, la del Orinoco, y la del Plata, llegando hacia el sur hasta las altas cuencas de los ríos Paraguay, Paraná y Uruguay.[2]
Este género fue descrito originalmente en el año 1912 por el ictiólogo estadounidense, nacido en Alemania, Carl H. Eigenmann.[3]

Загальна довжина представників цього роду коливається від 3,5 до 8 см. Голова коротка, її ширина дорівнює довжині. Очі маленькі, без вільного краю орбіти. Рот широкий. Є 3 пари коротеньких вусів. Тулуб стрункий, вкритий лускою. Хвостове стебло сплощене. Спинний і грудні плавці мають гострі шипи. Спинний плавець широкий, з розгалуженими променями. Жировий порівняно великий. Грудні плавці витягнуті, широкі. Анальний плавець дещо подовжено. Хвостовий плавець з широкими лопатями й виїмкою.
Забарвлення переважно помаранчево-коричневого кольору з малюнком і з великими темно-коричневими плямами.
Зустрічаються в невеликих струмках з чорною водою і піщано-мулистими ґрунтами, які зазвичай встелені килимом відмерлої рослинності, в якій сомики ховаються. Воліють від помірної до сильної течії. Утворюють невеличкі косяки. активні вночі та у присмерку. Одні види живляться водними комахами та їх личинками, інші — мурахами, впали у воду. У шлунку M. iheringi, крім фрагментів водних комах, виявлено велику кількість водоростей. Поки не з'ясовано: чи є водорості для даного виду поживою або потрапляють вони в шлунок разом зі здобиччю.
Мешкають у басейнах річок Амазонка, Ессекуібо, Оріноко, Парагвай, Ла-Плата і Турмеро — у межах Венесуели, Бразилії, Еквадору, Перу та Аргентини.
Необхідна ємність від 100 літрів. На дно насипають дрібний пісок темних тонів. Зверху розсипають опале листя дерев і тонкі гілки. Обов'язкова наявність корчів з дуплами, в яких соми будуть ховатися і відпочивати. Рослини висаджують уздовж далекої стінки акваріума. Кущі повинні бути з гарною кореневою системою й досить закріпитися в ґрунті перед запуском сомів, оскільки мікрогланіси люблять рити норки під корінням рослин.
Неагресивні риби. Тримають групою від 7-10 особин. Сусідами можуть стати будь-які неагресивні види — корідораси, тетри. Годують дрібним живим харчем, замінником живого (фарш з морепродуктів). За вживанням сухого корму помічені не були. З технічних засобів знадобиться внутрішній фільтр середньої потужності для створення помірної течії, компресор. Температура тримання повинна становити 22-28 °C. При відсутності інших донних риб мікрогланіси можуть підтримувати популяцію навіть в невеликих акваріумах.
