Preserved color nearly light brown all over, dusky above; operculum with a blackish irregular spot; lips and lower jaw black; pale fins. 11-15 scales between nape and dorsal; 2.5 scales from ventrals to lateral line. Scales with concentric striae, those on dorsal half also with longitudinal striae.

Barbodes palata is an extinct species of cyprinid fish endemic to Lake Lanao, Mindanao, the Philippines. This species reached a length of 14 centimetres (5.5 in) TL. It was a commercially important species to the local peoples.
