Body deep and laterally compressed (Ref. 81635). Dorsal profile of the back straight, upper profile of head straight, pointing downward; ventral side of the head concave; snout elongate, its length 29 to 35 % of head length (Ref. 81635). Submental swelling reduced (Ref. 81635).

Knoepffler's elephantfish (Boulengeromyrus knoepffleri) is a species of elephantfish in the family Mormyridae being the only member of its genus. It occurs only in the Ivindo River and the Ntem River basins of Gabon and Cameroon. It reaches a maximum length of about 41 cm (16 in).
