Small to medium-sized deciduous tree, terrestrial or as a strangler. Leaves very stiff and thickly textured, obovate, oblong-ovate or elliptic-oblong, 6-20 cm long, grey-green to light green above, paler below, finely hairy above, particularly along the veins, more densely hairy below; veins prominent and yellowish below; margins entire, flat or wavy. Fruits sessile, borne along the branches and in the leaf axils, spherical to ovoid c. 15 mm in diameter, finely hairy, yellowish green with reddish spots, sometimes pink or purple when ripe.
