Biology

Adults are found in various reef habitats to about 15 m depth. Usually seen resting on corals (Ref. 48636) or on rocks (Ref. 90102). Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).

體形小,圓柱狀。上頜向後延伸至瞳孔前緣下方;雄魚吻部長於雌魚;齒小,上下頜具椎形齒;鋤骨及腭骨前端具齒群。眼眶上緣觸角短,呈葉狀。鼻瓣膜為葉狀。後顳骨枝稍呈”I”形。頤部感覺孔 3-5 +1 + 3-5。頭部除了頸部具鱗片之外,其餘部分無鱗。體櫛鱗,尾柄圓鱗,胸鰭基部、頰部及腹側無鱗。側線不連續,分為前後二段,前段側線為孔鱗12-17個,孔鱗側線從胸鰭基後方即稍下降,末端位於第二背鰭中央下方;後段側線具2列缺刻鱗14-20個,末端止於尾柄。側線上鱗列 4 + 1 + 4。D. III+XI-XV+7-11; A. I+16-20; P. ii + 6-8 + viii (15-17);L.l. 12-17+14-20;Vert.10-11+21-23。背鰭低矮,分成三枚,但長度不超過第二背鰭第一軟條;臀鰭起始於第十一側線孔鱗;胸鰭末端達第八至第九臀鰭軟條。體黃棕色,體側具4-5黑色橫紋,尾柄具1黑斑;雄性頭部下側2/3處黑色。(李承運、林沛立2012/11編寫)

Enneapterygius fasciatus, known commonly as the tiny threefin[2] or the banded triplefin, is a species of triplefin blenny in the genus Enneapterygius.[2] It was originally described by Weber in 1909, under the name Tripterygium fasciatum,[3] which was later renamed Tripterygion fasciatum.[2] It is a tropical blenny found in coral reefs in the Indian and western Pacific Oceans, and has been described from East Africa to Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Taiwan.[2] E. fasciatus has been recorded swimming at a depth range of 1–25 metres (3.3–82 ft).[2] Male E. fasciatus can reach a maximum length of 3 centimetres.[2]
